Captain Marion Satterwhite was born on 1 June 1920 at Texas. He died on 17 May 1975 at California at age 54. He was buried after 17 May 1975 at El Camino Cemetery, San Diego, San Diego County, California; was buried with full military honors.

Citations

Something of interest from Richard Dhu: (Begin Quote) Captain Marion Satterwhite served in World War II. He was in the Silent Service (Submarines) in the Pacific theater and also played a part in the Korean Conflict. He was highly decorated and won many medals for bravery and leadership. He was well known for jumping overboard to rescue downed pilots, presumably when the submarine was surfaced :).

A funny story: During the war while on leave in San Diego Cap was late for his ship and wary of being penalized for being AWOL He called the base and told them he was Captain Marion Satterwhite and he needed the base to send a car to pick him up (He was an enlisted man!) They came and got him and he made it back to his ship on time. He retired as a full chief and was a civil servant on the local Navy base when he died of a heart attack.

I remember him as a very patient
and loving man who would do anything for his family. (End Quote).
